I am most inspired by those who share their honest heart and stories.

How did you first get into music?

"Coming from a musical family, it was nurturing my passion and deciding what I wanted from it that took time. It has been a tumultuous journey, that's for sure. There was a turning point in 2011 when I realised that music defined me and I needed to pour my all into carving a career out of it. I haven't looked back since.

I travelled around the world for nine months and then returned, moving to London, to start building a fan base and learning all the intricacies of this crazy industry."

02

Who are your musical inspirations?

"I am most inspired by those who share their honest heart and stories. To share your inner most thoughts requires deep bravery. You can feel that in the music that it pours from. I grew up listening to and adoring Ella Fitzgerald, Jeff Buckley, Nina Simone, Carole King and many others."

03

Which comes first, the music or the lyrics?

"It's ever-changing, which I love. Sometimes lyrics come sitting on the tube, late at night at home and other times when sat with an instrument both have come simultaneously. I feel that music is a piece of magic really, never knowing when it will land on you. Then we, the conduit, receive that and create something others can hear and hopefully love."

04

What do you do for down-time?

"In quarantine, that has changed somewhat, but it has encouraged me to ground myself more. I have been enjoying learning to cross-stitch, garden, sketch and write some poetry. I did some star gazing here in London last week and saw a shooting star, it was beautiful."

05

Do you play any other instrument besides the guitar?

"I play a little piano, which I deeply love. I have a long way to go, but it's fascinating how other instruments inspire different melodies and songs. I played the piano on my song 'Brother'."

What is your most intimidating moment?

"So many! Auditioning to play the lead in a new JJ Abrams Apple TV series in NYC when I was out in the States last year touring and writing. I had to sing and act, a very surreal moment turning up at Paramount Studios in Time Square to do that. Terrifying! I didn't get the part, I think having never had an acting class in my life didn't help haha. I was asked to audition for the part, so I was not going to pass that up!

Directly related to music, it must have been playing my headline shows in London and seeing rooms and churches full of people who had come just to hear my music. Electrifying!"

07

What other genres of music do you enjoy listening to?

"I love listening to other genres and falling into the feeling that each one evokes. I am very affected by mood. Classical, EDM, Folk, Rap, Funk and Soul!"

08

Where is your favourite holiday destination?

"Cape Town, South Africa! I am a little biased as I used to live there, but wow, what a very stunning corner of the earth. Mountains, ocean, wildlife, wine and my happiest memories."

09

Are you a saver or a spender?

"Definitely a saver - I've always been mindful of not living off my last penny. It makes me too nervous."

10

What is your greatest indulgence to date?

"All my Apple products! Not very glamorous, I know! And if holidays count (and travelling is my very favourite thing to do), it would have to have been my last trip home to Cape Town where I also tagged on going to Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana. I visited the breathtaking Victoria Falls, a walking trip across the border to see it from Zambia for the day, followed by seeing the spectacular wildlife in Botswana. My favourite way to indulge!"
