It’s possible in Ingolstadt’s Astronomy Park, which replicates the arrangement of the solar system to celebrate the significant astronomical discoveries made by the city’s scientists between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries. Take a stroll through the compact park, which sits prettily next to the Danube, to expand your knowledge of the planets in a hidden corner of the city.

Beat the city heat and spend a day messing about on the water at Wake & Groove Park in Geisenfeld, just a short hop from Ingolstadt.
