Hall of Liberation

The Hall of Liberation is an imposing monumental structure seated on a hill high above the city of Kelheim. It was commissioned by King Ludwig I. of Bavaria. There, the visitor has a wonderful view of Kelheim and the region.

The Hall of Liberation is an imposing monumental structure seated on a hill high above the city of Kelheim. It was commissioned by King Ludwig I. of Bavaria as a memorial place for the Napoleonic Wars. The facade is crowned by 18 monumental statues. Inside the Hall, 34 larger-than-life marmoreal goddesses of victory. The outside terrace allows for a magnificent view over Kelheim, the Altmühl Valley, and the nature reserve „Weltenburg Narrows“. The Hall of Liberation is open to the public all-season.
