Eco-conscious fashion

With our favourite brands pursuing sustainable methods like never before, there’s an eco-friendly look for every occasion.

01

Sustainable denim for a picnic al fresco

These denim jeans and fringed jacket from Maje are created using sustainable stone washing, a manufacturing process that creates that effortless worn-out look we love so much, all while reducing resource use. The result is a seven-piece collection that uses up to 95% less water, up to 50% less chemicals and up to 79% less energy.

02

Conscious cotton for an outdoor adventure

One for the explorers: this outdoor outfit will see you through a casual walk through the woods to rock climbing and biking. Forming part of Timberland’s Earthkeepers® collection, these pieces are crafted from at least 50% organic cotton (classified as cotton that’s grown without chemicals or additives, using eco-friendly methods and materials).

The brand has lofty goals for the future too. By 2030 it wants all designs to have a net positive impact on nature – giving back more than it takes – through regenerative agriculture (allowing land and animals to live out their natural patterns) and circular design (where products are reused or recycled and nothing goes to waste).

Eco-chic for wandering city streets

Embrace chic streetwear with this outfit from the Claudie Pierlot x Andrea Crews collaboration. Led by an eco-friendly approach, this capsule collection makes use of environmentally-friendly materials such as organic cotton, recycled eco-wash denim and pineapple leather.

The asymmetric dress is made from organic cotton that’s certified by GOTS (the world’s leading textile processing standard for organic fibres), while the futuristic silver bum-bag is crafted from pineapple leaves – agricultural waste that would have otherwise been burnt.

The collection also follows the ethos of Claudie Cares, a forward-thinking scheme by Claudie Pierlot designed to promote eco-friendly fashion without compromising on style. The scheme is made up of four cornerstones, which call for 80% of the brand’s ready-to-wear references to be eco-friendly by 2025; for environmental impact to be reduced; for the human factor to be prioritised; and for French expertise to be protected.
