Nestled in the heart of a remarkable 85-hectare garden, the castle of Champs-sur-Marne was built in the early 1700s and, with some 900 pieces, is one of the most beautifully furnished castles in Île-de-France. Illustrious former tenants include French aristocrats the Duke of la Vallière and the Marquise de Pompadour, together with numerous men of letters such as Diderot, Voltaire, Chateaubriand and Proust. With its lovely countryside setting, the castle and its grounds are not to be missed.
