During the reign of François I, this former royal hunting lodge was transformed into a spectacular palace, spread over 130 hectares of sweeping parkland and gardens and boasting more than 1,500 rooms. Featuring four museums, galleries, theatres, chapels and apartments, Château de Fontainebleau is also surrounded by the largest forest in Île-de-France.
