Top foodie hotspots

With restaurants and cafes galore, the boutiques really are only the beginning at Maasmechelen Village.

01

For authentic Italian

Take a seat at father Giuliano's table for a taste of the country's traditional cuisine and famous hospitality. FDo you love meat? Then choose the carpaccio di Bue. More in the mood for seafood? Then try the Pepata di Cozze, an authentic Italian recipe with mussels, freshly prepared every day. Delight in the wonderfully honest menu of Giuliano with fresh pasta and pizza prepared according to the family recipes. Giuliano always works with fresh produce; the scampi, for example, are supplied daily by the fishmonger.

Start with a glass of Aperol Spritz or prosecco and finish up with a Lavazza cappuccino and tiramisu for pudding. And Giuliano is open until 20.30, so you can enjoy dinner in the Village after shopping.

02

For Belgian classics at their best

In the mood to (re) discover all the Belgian classics? Opt for a traditional bullet steak or a delicious stew. A buttery tender ribeye of white-blue or perhaps fresh Zeeland mussels? It doesn't always have to be classic fries with mayonnaise. Try the Southern Fries or the Greek Wedding Fries.

At Le Petit Belge you'll find every Belgian classic, all served in a cosy setting with art deco-inspired interiors. There's even an outstanding beer menu to accompany every dish. You can also end your shopping day at Le Petit Belge. The team is ready to welcome you every day until 22.00.

For mouth-watering street food

The signature burgers served at Ellis Gourmet Burger will have you forsaking all other dishes. Made with 100% Holstein beef, each oh-so-tasty patty is served with freshly made chips.

Vegetarian and vegans are welcome too – try the Beyond Burger! A vegetable burger with exactly the same taste and texture as a beef burger, but 100% vegan. Finish off with a delicious mango-lime tart for dessert. The team at Ellis is happy to serve you until 19.00 and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 21.00.

04

For green goodness

Looking to start the day bursting with energy? At 9.30, before the boutiques open, you can enjoy a fabulously fulsome organic breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien.

Prefer a well-earned break between shopping? Put your shopping bags aside, flop into the enveloping armchairs and soak up the atmosphere of freshly baked bread.

Le Pain Quotidien offers something for everyone: you’ll find eggs, granola, salads, quiches, tartines, fresh soup, organic bread and tarts… Everything is prepared with a lot of love and is the result of produce from organic agriculture. Good for you and good for our planet.

With its expansive windows, the restaurant overlooks the large playground where the little ones can be seen enjoying themselves.

05

For a sweet treat

Treat yourself to a shopping break with an ice cream from Chez Lulu or a classic Belgian liège waffle from What a Waffle – washed down with a coffee or hot chocolate, of course! Chocolates lovers can create their own chocolate box at Leonidas and Neuhaus, while a visit to the Kusmi Tea boutique will keep you warm on winter nights.
