Met de zomer in het vooruitzicht, zagen onze tuinen er nog nooit zo mooi uit. Van een stadsparkparadijs tot de geheime tuin van je dromen, het is tijd om naar buiten te gaan en te genieten van het beste dat de natuur te bieden heeft.

Panoramische toegangsweg naar het Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen: Connecterra, België
De schaduwrijke bossen met hier en daar een blik op de heide maken van het Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen een waar fietsparadijs. Fiets langs de rustige jaagpaden en geniet van de prachtige omgeving. Veel delen van de trajecten zijn bovendien volledig autovrij. Af en toe een helling hoort er wel bij, maar je krijgt wel een mooi uitzicht als beloning.

Heuvelachtige tocht: Fürstengarten Marienberg, Würzburg, Duitsland
Het Fort Marienberg, dat 266 meter boven de stad Würzburg uitsteekt, op slechts 30 minuten van [Wertheim Village] (https://www.thebicestercollection.com/wertheim-village/en), is de thuisbasis van de artistiek ingerichte "Prinsentuin", die zorgvuldig gerestaureerd werd in het begin van de achttiende eeuw. De tocht naar de top van de heuvel wordt beloond met het prachtig geplande formele tuinterras met fontein en twee paviljoens. Het uitzonderlijke uitzicht over de stad, de wijngaarden van Marienberg en de vallei van de rivier de Main geven nog een extra reden om de tocht te maken. De weg naar de tuin is erg gemakkelijk, de wandeling duurt ongeveer 20 minuutjes.
Historischel parel: Kruidtuin Hortus Botanicus Leuven, België
Op slechts 50 minuten van [Maasmechelen Village] (https://www.thebicestercollection.com/maasmechelen-village/en), in Leuven, vind je de oudste botanische tuin van België. De tuin werd in 1738 aangelegd voor studenten geneeskunde en staat bekend om zijn diverse plantencollectie en een kas van 450 vierkante meter die aquatische, tropische en subtropische soorten cultiveert.
Sprookjesbos: Castello di Grazzano Visconti, Emilia Romagna
Voor een tuin die voor elk wat wils biedt, maak een uitstapje naar de regio Emilia-Romagna in Italië, om het park rond het Castello di Grazzano Visconti te ontdekken. Het terrein van het kasteel is rond het begin van de twintigste eeuw ontworpen door hertog Giuseppe Visconti di Modrone en heeft formele Italiaanse tuinen, schaduwrijke bossen, fonteinen, een stromende beek en een pittoresk kinderhuisje, gebouwd voor de dochters van de hertog. Het park van 150.000 hectare, gelegen op slechts 40 minuten van [Fidenza Village] (https://www.thebicestercollection.com/fidenza-village/en), wordt gekenmerkt door zijn architectonische beplanting en prachtige bosgebieden, die een perfecte ontsnapping bieden aan de intense Italiaanse zonneschijn.
Weekendje weg: Powerscourt Estate Gardens, County Wicklow, Ierland
Op het weelderige Ierse platteland, bevindt zich het terrein van Powerscourt Estate. Het is verbluffend pittoresk, met eindeloos mooie vergezichten die een achtergrond vormen voor een verzameling formele, Italiaanse en rozentuinen. Met meer dan 47 hectare aan terrassen, meren en zelfs een waterval, heb je misschien meer dan een dag nodig om deze plek te verkennen.

Verborgen doolhof: Parc del Laberint d'Horta, Barcelona
Om de stad echt te ontvluchten, ga je naar de oudst bewaarde tuin van Barcelona. Parc del Laberint d'Horta herbergt een prachtig bewaard gebleven, neoklassiek labyrint dat al eeuwenlang favoriet is bij bezoekers van de stad. Spring scents: Rose garden in Parque del Oeste, Madrid
With two abundantly stocked rose gardens, Madrid’s residents and its visitors are certainly spoiled in May and June when the flowers are in full bloom. While either – or both – are worth a visit, the classically laid out rose garden in the city’s Parque del Oeste (Western Park) offers more than 20,000 rose bushes across 600 different varieties and has won awards for its outstanding displays. Located on the border of Paris’ Latin Quarter and the literary and artistic centre of Saint-Germain-des-Prés are the Luxembourg Gardens. Created in 1612 for Queen Marie de Medici, the Italian Baroque gardens provide a grandiose setting for activities to suit all and have become a favourite escape from urban bustle for Parisians and tourists alike.
Across the 25 hectares, just a 35-minute drive from La Vallée Village, are glorious gardens, greenhouses and orchards, as well as a pond, rose garden and more than 100 sculptures. Staying true to its cultural locale, the gardens exhibit photography exhibitions along the enclosing railings – perfect for a leisurely stroll in the spring sunshine.
Plant-lovers’ paradise: Botanischer Garten München-Nymphenburg, Munich, Germany
