About The Creative Spot

Over the past 14 years, The Bicester Collection has been supporting emerging talent in the fashion industry with The Creative Spot, an initiative that offers them the opportunity to showcase their work in rent-free retail spaces all over the world.

As part of a Village takeover by Her Royal Highness Princess Delphine of Saxe-Coburg, Princess of Belgium, the initiative has now landed in Maasmechelen Village for the first time ever. The Princess has carefully curated a total of ten Belgian and three international emerging designers and creatives to be showcased in an exclusive pop-up boutique from 24 June until 23 July 2023.

Pol Vogels

With his eccentric, expressive style, Local Limburg talent Pol Vogels creates pieces inspired by Belgian culture and his own family traditions – an autobiographic take on fashion that caught the attention of Her Royal Highness Princess Delphine of Saxe-Coburg, Princess of Belgium, in 2022. From his atelier in Beringen, Pol Vogels designed the Princess’ 2022 royal parade dress. The designer is currently launching his debut collection.

The Creative Spot showcases a selection of hoodies and embroidered patches in the designer’s signature style.

Erratum Fashion

Created by Siré Kaba, Belgian label Erratum Fashion offers exclusive ready-to-wear collections with a message. Erratum focuses on creating pieces for the urban woman in search of a colourful and elegant wardrobe. Inspired by Africa and made in Belgium, the brand proudly claims its mixed Belgian identity. With its name meaning ‘the correction of past mistakes’ in Latin, the label aims to build bridges and propose a new reading of Belgium’s relationship with Africa.

The Creative Spot showcases Erratum Fashion’s latest collection, which consists of colourful and effortlessly chic pieces – including designs that reminisce the one worn by Her Royal Highness Princess Delphine of Saxe-Coburg, Princess of Belgium, on 21 July 2021.

Marylène Madou

Marylène Madou launched her label in early 2017 with an exquisite collection of printed scarves. Today, print is still the main starting point for each collection. Each print is created in-house by the designer herself, using her own original paintings and digital illustrations – a vibrant interaction between fashion and art.

The Creative Spot showcases a selection of the Marylène Madou’s signature silk scarves, as well as elegant homeware and accessories such as high-quality throws, puffer bags, and kimonos.

Georgina Sanginés

Georgina Sanginés was born and raised in Mexico where she worked in the cultural sector and interacted with different artists from various fields. After moving to the diamond city of Antwerp in 2018 she decided to take her passion for art and design to the next level by founding her own jewellery label. Today, Georgina Sanginés offers designs that are a harmonized blend of Mexican heritage and a fresh, edgy aesthetic – for an eclectic and contemporary new take on jewellery.

Atelier ExC

After completing her Master’s degree in architecture, Ebru Sari joined the third-generation family fashion company. In 2016, she started her own haute couture business together with her husband. Today, Ebru Sari brings impeccable collections of cocktail and evening pieces to some of the world’s most discerning clients. She is the official designer of Miss Belgium, as well as a costume designer for Miss World and Miss Universe.

The Creative Spot showcases a selection of dresses exclusively created to celebrate the Village takeover by Her Royal Highness Princess Delphine of Saxe-Coburg, Princess of Belgium.

Anne Zellien

Anne Zellien has always been fascinated by ‘Sentimental Jewellery’ – a jewellery style that was wide-spread in Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries and that was characterized by personalized engravings, hidden messages, portraits and charms. A firm believer in the importance of love and friendship, Anne focuses on creating meaningful jewellery with a personal touch.

From an early age, Cornelia Hats founder Josje Huisman loved wearing hats. Cornelia is rooted in the urge to express her style and personality in a creative and authentic way. Wim Vanlessen

A renowned ballet dancer with a career spanning twenty-five years, Wim Vanlessen was knighted Chevalier in the order of Leopold in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the cultural arts in Belgium. He has been an international ambassador for dance representing the Royal Ballet of Flanders – both on and off the stage.

The Creative Spot showcases the artist’s latest book, Dancer. Part memoir, part visual history, the acclaimed publication traces the arc of Wim Van Lessen’s life and career, documenting his passion for movement, fashion, and photography.

THEMOIRè

THEMOIRè was founded in Milan in 2019 as an ethically and ecologically responsible fashion brand. With the mission to sew the seams of a more sustainable future, THEMOIRè has developed innovative new fabrics and materials with the lowest possible environmental impact, all while paying particular attention to functional elegance and quality. The collections include materials obtained from cactus plants and apple industry waste, cork, eco-fur and vegan leather. All linings are made using 100% recycled materials.

Torlowei

Founded by mother and daughter Patience Torlowei and Mojisola Adegbile in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2017, Torlowei’s designs are rooted in the brand’s African artistic heritage. The Nigerian-Belgian duo takes classic silhouettes and reinterprets them with avant-garde materials, and prints, colours and shapes inspired by fauvism and cubism. Torlowei creates pieces to be passed down from generation to generation – timeless and long-lasting.

Since its launch, Torlowei has dressed a host of high-profile clients such as André Leon Talley, Black Lives Matter co-founder Opal Tometi, and Naomi Campbell.

Princess Delphine

Her Royal Highness Princess Delphine of Saxe-Coburg, Princess of Belgium, has earned a voice in the European art world as a non-conformist statement artist and colourist. She is known for creating multi-media artworks that overflow with colour, texture, and humour. From painting, video, neon sculpture and brass design pieces, her artworks are vibrant and playful. The artist’s work is often inspired by issues of identity, luxury, reputation, privilege and royalty. Her explicit use of words and language make her messages very straightforward, while her use of colour and composition leaves room for whimsy and irony.

Her Royal Highness Princess Delphine of Saxe-Coburg, Princess of Belgium joined The Creative Spot as a curator as part of her Village takeover. The pop-up boutique showcases a selection of silk scarves designed by the artist, as well as a collection of wearable art with the brand-new custom pattern designed in honour of her Village takeover.
