Sustainable styles to know

Green is the new blue when it comes to the latest denim looks.

Creating a more sustainable wardrobe is on everyone’s minds, this year more than ever. And, well-established as having one of the most wasteful production processes in fashion, the denim you choose can go a long way in making you greener. So, invest in an eco-friendly pair from the likes of Maje, Levi’s®, Timberland and more – and pair them with sustainably sourced cotton T-shirts and jumpers from KARL LAGERFELD. Offering both style and substance, there’s a sustainable process for you…

Less wasted water

One of our favourite innovators is Levi’s®. By removing water from its stone washes and combining multiple wet-cycle processes, the all-American icon has reduced its water usage by as much as 96% for some designs. Choose top-to-toe sustainability with its trucker-style jackets too – it’s double denim that does good.

Sustainable sources

Timberland’s newly arrived menswear collection features three slim stretch designs in varying washes, including a dark ‘rinse wash’, classic ‘slate blue’ and even a paler ‘light vintage’. Plus, its sleek designs are eco-friendly too – with the brand working towards using 100% sustainably sourced cotton by the end of 2020. Through Timberland’s ‘Better Cotton Initiative’, more and more of its pieces are being made with recycled, fair-trade or US-sourced cotton.

Recycled materials

With a reputation for a cutting-edge approach to fashion, it’s no surprise KARL LAGERFELD continues to elevate its sustainability credentials. As one of the first thirty-two brands to sign the Fashion Pact in August 2019, it’s taken great strides forward with the careful selection of materials it uses.

In its Fall 2020 collection, all polybags and button bags were made of 100% certified recycled plastic. It also crafts all woven labels and care labels with 100% certified recycled content. In the near future, dust bags will be made of organic cotton as well as a large part of its jersey apparel – perfect for styling your sustainable denim!
