Capture the moment at the Kiss Mural

Tucked away in the Plaza de Isidre Nonell (opposite the spectacular Cathedral of Barcelona) is The World Begins With Every Kiss. Although the name may not be familiar, you’d probably recognise the photographic mosaic by Joan Fontcuberta. His work, better known as Barcelona’s 'Kiss Mural’, is made up of more than 4,000 individual photographs. To create the masterpiece, the newspaper El Periódico asked its readers to send in photos that mean “freedom” to them. These were then chosen at random and transferred to mosaic tiles to form the mural. Today, those photographs are the perfect frame for couples looking to capture their love with a selfie.

DID YOU KNOW? When the work was unveiled in 2014, it was only intended to be a temporary exhibit. But thanks to its popularity amongst locals and tourists, the mural has become a permanent part of Barcelona’s landscape.

Dine under the stars at the Fabra Observatory

You won't need to see a shooting star to make a wish, because dining at the Fabra Observatory in Barcelona is already a dream come true. From Tuesday to Sunday throughout summer (31 May to 6 October), one of Barcelona’s most spectacular viewpoints opens the doors of its museum – including the impressive domed building, which houses a telescope dating back to 1904 – for visitors to enjoy a spectacular outdoor dining experience. A unique occasion for lovers of meteorology, seismology and astronomy – or simply, those looking to enjoy a romantic dinner under the moonlight – you won’t want to miss it.

DID YOU KNOW? Beyond impressive dining experiences, the Observatory (located very close to Tibidabo) offers courses and guided tours throughout the day for those looking to learn more about the science behind our stars.

Catch a breathtaking sunset at Tibidabo

If you have left time on your route to the Observatory, pay a visit to Tibidabo – the hill, church or its amusement park will all suffice. In addition to being one of the most beloved areas for locals and tourists, it’s also one of the best locations to enjoy a beautiful sunset in Barcelona. You can walk up to the top of Collserola or use the Cuca de Llum Funicular to reach a viewpoint with unbeatable panoramic views of the city. Stay for sunset and wait to be blown away by the beauty of nature…

DID YOU KNOW? Tibidabo is the highest peak in the Collserola mountain range, sitting 512 metres above sea level. You’ll want to choose a sunny, cloudless day to visit the area, where you can also soak up views of the unmissable Montserrat mountain range.

Secure a table for two at La Roca Village’s restaurants

If browsing your favourite designer boutiques together sounds like your ideal day out, you’ll want to mark the occasion with delicious fare at one of La Roca Village’s restaurants. Aside from the Village’s beautiful facades, it’s impeccable service, quality produce and delicious plates that define the romance of experience. You could start your day with brunch at FARGGI 1957, sampling sweet and savoury dishes within its pretty pastel-toned interiors. What to do on Sant Jordi's Day in Barcelona?

23 April is Valentine's Day in Catalonia, although culture (and literature, more specifically) is also celebrated on this day. Tradition dictates that women should be gifted a rose and men, a book – though these gifts are now exchanged irrespective of gender. To celebrate, walk through the city’s streets in search of the perfect book and rose to give to the person you love most.

What to do in Barcelona?

The city and its surrounding areas offer countless things to do for locals and tourists. From discovering Gaudí’s modernist Casa Batlló or the domes of Sant Pau, to a getaway along the spectacular Catalan coast in search of an award-winning vineyard, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

La Roca Village and its expert team of stylists have curated the products in this edit to showcase the best from our boutiques.
